Who Is That Guy?
I am a 23-year-old full-time freelancer from near Cologne, Germany.
I started this blog to share my journey and experiences in the world of development and DevOps. Before we dive into the deep technical topics that await you, let me briefly introduce myself, explain what drives me, and why I am here.
My Journey to Freelancing
My freelancing journey started in March 2020 as a part-time gig while I was still working full-time. In June 2021, I made the decision to switch to full-time freelance work after careful consideration and planning. In this blog, I will also share my experience of leaving my regular job to pursue this passion and the valuable lessons I learned along the way.
What I Do
My area of expertise is DevOps. I primarily utilize Python, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes to develop efficient, scalable, and dependable solutions for my clients. On occasion, I also engage in frontend development using Next.js, particularly for my personal projects.
My clients are primarily from the DACH region, which includes Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The projects I work on are diverse, ranging from automations such as deployment, configurations, and cluster setups with Ansible to technical support and consulting for infrastructure topics. Additionally, I develop API-driven systems for e-commerce, merchandise management systems, and customized projects. For instance, I recently created a WhatsApp Business connection for managing external workers at a recruitment company.
Outside of Work
When I'm not working, I often travel in my camper, where I enjoy the freedom of discovering new places and being able to work from anywhere. Technology is not only my profession but also my hobby. I experiment with smart home automation (home assistant), play with my 3D printer, and constantly search for new technologies to integrate into my daily life.
My dog from Romania has been with me for two years and is a significant part of my life. We enjoy exploring nature together through walks, bike rides, and special training exercises such as anti-stimulus, anti-chasing, and attention exercises. Additionally, we participate in man-trailing with other dog friends once a week, which we both thoroughly enjoy.
Why this Blog?
This blog documents my learning journey and the challenges I've faced. It's also a resource for those on a similar path. I aim to simplify complex topics that I struggled with, making them more accessible.
To provide regular updates and insights into my daily life, I plan to publish a "Weekly Recap" in addition to topic-specific posts. This recap will summarize the highs and lows of the past week, progress made on my projects, and any unexpected challenges. The purpose of this recap is to give you a glimpse into my work and life, while also helping me track my progress and goals.
Invitation to Dialogue
I view this blog not only as a means of one-way communication, but also as a starting point for discussions, questions, and the exchange of ideas. Whether you have questions about DevOps, are looking for advice on freelancing, are interested in living in a camper, or just want to learn more about training with dogs, I invite you to become part of this community. Your feedback, questions, and stories are valued here, as I believe we can all learn from one another.
And Now?
I would appreciate it if you visited my blog regularly and followed its development. Please feel free to leave comments or send me emails with suggestions on specific topics or an introduction. I am excited to hear your stories, answer your questions, and perhaps even meet some of you in person. This blog is intended to be a platform for exchange and interaction, and I am eager to engage in dialogue with you.
